Prenatal Yoga
Stretch, strengthen and relax your rapidly changing body: stay healthy, happy and whole.
Did you know... When pregnant, your body is more flexible (due to a hormone called relaxin, which rises to ten times its normal level during pregnancy). What a better time to start yoga! And if you are already “yoking” (the Sanskrit word yoga literally means ‘yoking’), some postures are in fact contraindicated during pregnancy. Either way, you can’t do without these Prenatal Yoga classes.
You want to maintain the elasticity of connective tissues—including muscles, tendons and ligaments. By keeping the muscles elastic, the joints flexible, and the internal organs healthy, yoga reduces the wear and tear of pregnancy. You will strengthen the lower back, the uterus, the abdominal and pelvic muscles, stay in shape, and prepare your body for healthy, natural childbirth. Prenatal Yoga will alleviate or—in some cases—completely remove some of the common conditions of pregnancy (such as round ligament pain, abdominal pruritus, sciatica, sore knees, varicose veins, swelling, headaches, nausea, vomiting, constipation, indigestion, heartburn, urinary infections, cramps, hemorrhaging, etc.). It will purify the body; improve circulation, digestion and elimination; regulate the glandular and strengthen the immune and nervous system; reduce physical and emotional tensions and stress; rid you of anxiety; boost energy and lessen fatigue; and increase your general well-being, strength, stamina and endurance. In time, you will grow tranquil, serene, satisfied and happy.
In addition, we’ll teach you advantageous positions and techniques for labor and delivery, which will allow a faster, easier, less painful labor, as well as reduce the likelihood and need of medical intervention during delivery.
